Bricks in East Sussex
Bricks for a home makeover
We often pay a fortune to have our houses decorated. A complete makeover is often more than just a splash of paint here and there. Get creative with bricks to change the look and feel of your home.
Bricks for the kitchen
Bricks really can change a boring looking kitchen into a dream space to create some mouth watering dishes. From a false chimney breast, a backdrop to a solid fuel stove, or a simple cupboard unit run.
Bricks can deliver a rustic feel like the typical country cottage, or they can be painted to give a more nodern, cleaner and often minimalist appearance to any kitchen.
Bricks for the living area
Fireplaces are the favourite places to put bricks in a living area, particularly with more and more people having solid fuel burners fitted. A real fire with a natural surround of bricks just looks perfect somehow.
Even heavy items such as fish tanks can really benefit from a base made from bricks. When you consider that every litre of water weighs one kilo, it doesn’t take much to over load a table or sideboard. The very last thing you want is a flooded living room or shards of glass all over the place when these collapse under the weight of an aquarium.
East Sussex: A historic area
East Sussex is part of the rich and historic county of Sussex, which has its roots set firmly in the ancient kingdom of the South Saxons, who established themselves in East Sussex in the 5th century AD, after the Romans left Britain.
There have been many archaeological remains discovered in this part of East Sussex, especially in the upland areas. East Sussex position on the coast has also meant that there were many invaders, including the Romans and later the Normans. The mainstay of industry in early East Sussex history were fishing, iron-making, and the wool trade, sadly all of these have either declined, or been lost completely.
